A flu vaccination campaign has been launched in Minsk. The readiness of health organizations to carry out preventive vaccinations for the subject contingent of the population was ensured.
For reference. Subject contingents: the persons belonging to the high-risk group of the “adverse effects of the flu” (children and adults with chronic diseases, people over 65 years old, children from 6 months to 3 years old, pregnant women); persons at high risk of the influenza infection (medical workers, schoolchildren and children attending pre-school institutions, pupils and students of secondary and higher educational institutions, teachers and educators of schools and kindergartens; people involved in essential services of the city).
In 2019, it is planned to provide more than 40% of Minsk residents with preventive flu shots, including at least 75% of the population belonging to risk groups in accordance with the National preventive vaccination calendar.
This year in Minsk, the flu vaccination campaign will be held with the possibility of using both vaccines for immunization at the expense of the budget ("Grippol plus" produced in the Russian Federation) and vaccines available at the expense of the budgets of enterprises, organizations and personal funds of citizens ("Grippol plus" produced in the Russian Federation, "Influvac" made in the Netherlands, "Vaxigrip" and "VaxigripTetra" made in France). All vaccines are registered on the territory of the Republic of Belarus and are comparable in effectiveness and have been used in our country and abroad.
Preventive vaccines against the flu are well tolerated by both children and adults, and contribute to the development of highly specific immunity 7-14 days after the vaccination, the effect of which lasts up to 6-12 months.
The vaccine strain composition has been updated to 2/3 in accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO): in the current epidemic season, three strains of the influenza virus will circulate in the Northern Hemisphere, two of which are new, previously not widely circulating, to which the population are not immune: A/Brisbane/02/2018 (H1N1) pdm09-like virus, A/Kansas/14/2017 (H3N2)-like virus and similar to last year's B/Colorado/06/2017-like virus (B/Victoria/2/87 lineage)
For reference: the vaccination against the influenza carried out in 2018 for the population of Minsk allowed to prevent: more than 50.9 thousand cases of the influenza (including more than 6 thousand cases of its complicated forms); more than 39.6 thousand cases of ARI of non-influenza etiology. The prevented economic damage due to the vaccination among the population is estimated at the equivalent of $ 9.9 million. For each invested dollar, an effect of $ 8.7 was obtained. Thanks to the vaccination, up to 126.8 thousand treatments of the population with outpatient care were prevented.
Vaccination is safe and effective. Your health is in your hands!
