In the capital polyclinics comprehensive medical examinations of the veterans of the Great Patriotic War and war affected people have been completed. All of them have been examined by doctors in full.
Siarhei Malyshka, the head of the Health Committee of the Minsk City Executive Committee, reported it to the correspondent of the «Minsk-News» agency.
The veterans of the Great Patriotic War and war affected people were examined by the following specialists: a geriatrician (health specialist for the elderly) or a local physician, a neurologist, an otorhinolaryngologist, an ophthalmologist, a dentist, a surgeon. If necessary, consultations of an oncologist, an urologist, an endocrinologist were appointed. In addition, the physical examination included ECG (electrocardiogram) removal, various laboratory tests, and fluorography. If there was a need in additional tests to make a diagnosis, those tests were prescribed. Moreover, due to their age, most patients were examined by doctors at home.
According to the Healthcare Committee, there are 6 350 veterans of the Great Patriotic War and war affected people registered at Minsk polyclinics. These are 209 invalids of the Great Patriotic War, 796 participants of the Great Patriotic War, 521 people awarded with orders and medals “For conscientious work during the Great Patriotic War”, 132 residents of besieged Leningrad, 358 family members of the dead soldiers, 33 disabled children due to injuries during the Great Patriotic War, 1 498 former prisoners of fascist concentration camps, 159 disabled because of warfare on the territory of the other states, 2 642 veterans of the local wars.
