The information and educational medical campaign dedicated to the World Day of Blood Donor is being held in the capital, as the "Minsk-News" agency correspondent was told in the City Center of Transfusiology.

The medical campaign will last until June 14. In 2018 the World Day of Blood Donor is held under the motto "Think About Others. Hand over the blood. Share your life."
According to the World Health Organization, the country can independently provide its needs in donated blood, if it is handed over from 2 to 6% of the population. In Belarus, the number of donors is approaching 40 per 1,000 inhabitants, which is 4%. In other countries, this indicator varies from 0.4% (Armenia, Tajikistan) to 6.4% (Denmark, Germany), in Russia — 1.5%, in the USA — 6%. Recently, autonomous blood donation is gaining popularity, it is the preparation of your own blood components before a serious planned operation, a course of chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
